Gabe Globus-HoenichMontreal native Gabe Globus-Hoenich is one of Philadelphia's most promising young percussionists. As an orchestral percussionist, he has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Boston's Symphony Hall, Shostakovich Hall in St. Petersburg, and has worked with conductors including Christoph Eschenbach, Simon Rattle, Charles Dutoit, and Alan Gilbert. An avid performer of contemporary classical music, he has performed with the Chamber Music Now! Ensemble, Ensemble No-Amnesia, with members of the Grammy-winning ensemble eighth blackbird, and as co-leader of A.I.R., a collaborative percussion quartet of fellow Curtis Institute of Music graduates, which won the 2008 Percussive Arts Society Percussion Ensemble Competition. Mr. Globus-Hoenich performs improvised music with such noted improvisation musicians as Tim Berne, Ralph Alessi, Andy Milne, and Larry McKenna, and Latin American and African music in world music ensembles. He served on the faculty of Reading Summer Music Institute, teaches extensively in the Philadelphia school system, and as a member of the outreach department for the Curtis Institute. A graduate of Curtis, Gabe has studied with premier percussionists including Don Liuzzi, Robert Van Sice, Alan Abel, Stanley Leonard, Sal Rabbio, She-e Wu, Rolando Morales-Matos, and Scott Robinson.
